What is the best tape to use for my packaging?
What is rubber tape?
Rubber tape is a type of packaging tape made from PVC film with natural rubber adhesive that is designed for both heavy duty and general-purpose packing and sealing cartons for shipping and is a suitable tape for a wide range of temperatures and climates.
Natural rubber will age & discolour with exposure to UV but will otherwise retain its tack properties better than hot melt adhesive and is generally resistant to moisture, diluted acids and alkalies.
What is rubber tape used for?
Rubber Tape is one of the more universal types of tape available for purchase. The tape’s properties make it suited for both general purpose and heavy-duty packaging, and is designed to be versatile, suited for a range of climates and temperatures with heat resistance for short exposure up to about +70°C
Rubber Tape adheres strongly to a variety of board surfaces at temperature extremes - ideal for packaging that requires refrigeration with low temperature resistance down to about -20°C after application at room temperature.
What is acrylic tape?
Acrylic tape is clear Packing Tape made from BOPP film with water based acrylic adhesive that adheres well to a variety of cardboard surfaces at temperature extremes. Acrylic tape resists drying up in sunlight and is resistant to UV exposure from warehouse skylights in storage.
What is acrylic tape used for?
Acrylic Tape is used for general purpose packing and sealing for high volume packaging as it adheres well to a variety of cardboard surfaces at temperature extremes and is traditionally recognized as being a good adhesive to plastics. The tensile strength is ideal for thicker, more cumbersome items, which are otherwise difficult to wrap with other materials.
What is sellotape called in Australia?
Sellotape is referred to as Sticky Tape in Australia!
What is black tape called?
Black Tape is also known as Gaffer Tape! Gaffer Tape can be produced in a wide range of colours, although the most common colour that it can be found in is matte black. As it’s often manufactured in smaller quantities, Duct Tape is considered the cheaper option; however, Gaffer Tape has more specific specifications as it is used for professional purposes.
Is foam tape waterproof?
Foam Tape is one of the more versatile types of Tape on the market. It’s an ideal tape to provide insulation, absorb sound or fill gaps. It can protect against a wide range of elements such as moisture, noise, temperature changes, and even dust.
It’s most often used within the construction industry, as it’s the perfect type of tape where the surfaces it is to be used on are textured or uneven.
Is electric tape waterproof?
Electric Tape is designed to keep wires insulated and protected, and while it is very stretchy and elastic, it may not be waterproof. The adhesives are likely to be less effective whilst wet, and it’s possible that the seals won't be able to hold their shape as well.
Before you purchase electrical tape, it’s recommended to read up on the Product Information to ensure that this is the right tape for your requirements.
Can tape kill you?
Tape is safe when being utilized for day-to-day use, but as with all items, make sure you read the safety specifications. Packaging tape is not edible, and it’s not recommended to consume tape. If used inappropriately it can also lead to risk of suffocation. If you have any health concerns, we recommend you contact 000 or your local General Practitioner.
